Here are some questions you may be wondering about: 1. How do you make a part? Well, I draw the part, transfer it to the plug material, and make the plug. Then I make the box and mix the silicone. Then I pour the silicone in the box, vac it, and let it set for 18 hours to cure. When it’s cured, I pull the mold from the plug and let the mold air cure for a day or so. To make the actual part, I blow out the mold to make sure there is no particles in it, set the mold on a piece of glass, mix the resin, and pour it into the mold. After about an hour, I remove the part from the mold…I like to let the parts set a day or two to fully cure. The part(s) can be shipped any time after. 2. Are they resin or ABS plastic? I make all my parts from 2-part urethane resins. 3, How scale is it? Some items scale out directly, and some are subjective. Sometimes you can’t find a straight-on photo to scale from, so you have to use some ‘Magic’. Most of my items are very, very, reasonable looking. As one fella put it, “We are replicating, not duplicating”, I try my best to replicate as close to duplication as possible. 4. What are your plans for the future? I intend to make parts for the 'Favorite' aircraft first, then other 'Favorites', and maybe 'Interesting' ones. 5. Do you do custom work? If you need it, I believe I can accomodate you. If you have suggestions or questions, feel free to use the box or e-mail me.
As I get questions I’ll post them here. |
